My Experience

Latest News: Having passed all three exams in April 2022, I am an NCIDQ certified Interior Designer!
Biography:
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1990 with a B.S. in Interior Design from the college of DAAP. For the first 13 years of my career, I worked at DesignGroup Inc in Columbus, OH.
While at DG, I worked as an interior designer focusing on corporate interiors. However, after a few years, I was introduced to the 3D world of visualization with formZ. I loved it.
I took it upon myself to learn architectural visualization, using formZ, Renderzone, and 3DS MAX.
I moved to Boston, MA, working for three different architectural firms as a visualization artist. I have been with Elkus-Manfredi Architects for over 10 years. At EMA, I have honed my expertise in visualization using MAX and Vray, focusing on Interiors. I have also used Unreal Engine to create immersive virtual tours of various interior spaces.
In 2018, I refocused my career on the more technical side of the practice as an Interiors Job Captain. Having used Revit at various times over the past decade, I made the move to full time Job Captain, using Revit to complete ID drawing sets for various project types.
For 30 years, I have collaborated with designers to communicate their design concepts to our clients, using 3D visualization and BIM as my tools.
Using the latest 3D technology of the time, I created detailed models for virtual presentations that conveyed the story of the design. I built custom furniture, light fixtures and finishes to give the client the best possible understanding of the project before it was built. This virtual experience allowed the client to make a more informed decision and move forward with the project more confidently.
In my role as Interiors Job Captain, I have found that I am more immersed in the project design and can make decisions that affect the outcome of the design. While this is more technical than artistic, I enjoy being involved in a project through from beginning to the end.
